I would like some advice concerning doing live broadcast with my new camcorder (it is Mac compatible). I downloaded Quicktime Broadcaster, and I think I may also need to use a SERVER software.

Does anyone have any ideas to share? I'd be most appreciative, especially if I can avoid upgrading my OS to a SERVER, as the Apple XServer software is $499.99 US!

Cheers

Why do you think that? Does it say? Technically speaking, there's no difference between MacOS X and MacOS X Server. It may only be licensing restrictions preventing it from running - but it will be clear about it. Also, there are third party utilities available.

live broadcast...

Who do you want to live broadcast to?

Over a LAN, Quicktime Broadcaster works perfectly as is, no server required.
I'd like to somehow live broadcast small seminars I give not over a LAN, but say to a small group in another city or even country over the internet.

Thanks for the suggestions, if you have any more keep 'em coming!

If you want to broadcast live then you will probably want to get an account with a service/server that allows you to send the stream to them and they repeat it for you. Your home/office connection won't have the bandwidth and latency required to allow groups of people to directly connect to you, so these services act like a proxy and allow you to send out only a single audio/video stream to their servers. I don't have specific URL's to point you to, but maybe someone else can help in that regard.
