Black desktop or you could add a black side bar to any desktop.

A black desktop is best for speed.

Too bad a double dock is not an option
I'd like one for occasional apps and folders that would disappear and then have the main dock with larger icons.

Sidebar is in a Finder Window - very useful. Most don't use it enough.

If you are in Leopard you have no choice.
It's the side of all Finder Windows.

Earlier versions let you turn it off. Look in your help menu under sidebar.
