Here's a technical question for y'all.

I've noticed that the new 12" PowerBooks do not have a 1MB L3 cache that the larger PowerBooks have.

How will this affect performance and speed?

I like the idea of a compact unit with side connections rather than the 15" model with rear ports; that and the 17" model is a little on the expensive side, and rather large to carry around.

This was answered elsewhere but figure 15-20% loss of processing capacity. Not so critical for day to day but would show up in audio and video "heavy lifting applications".
Figure a 867 with 256 L2 only is about the same as a 667 with 256L2 and 1 meg L3. No slouch. The fast video card really helps "perceived speed".
Overall Apple is making sensible decisions about features price.
