These are just three links to review the LaCie thunderbolt 2big 6TB drive I just recently got. I'll have a full review soon. I got this ordered in through Core1 in Oakville, Ontario. It now has a happy home on my desk ready for video editing.

Hope LaCie takes Thunderbolt as an opportunity to turn around their abysmal quality control, though somehow I doubt it.

+1 If it wasn't made by LaCie it might be worth buying... ;)
lol funny you guys all hate LaCie... I've have 5 LaCie's over the years without any issues at all. No dead power supplies or hard drive failures.:D:clap:

Been using a Lacie Quadra as my backup drive at work for a few years; it's been flawless. I bought the same model for home use a few months ago - it too has been just fine and it doesn't even get warm.

Knock wood of course but I'd be doing so with any make of drive.

Yea, I know many out there dislike Lacie; a few years ago, influenced by the negative comments I started buying empty RAID boxes. I now have a dead ReadyNAS, 2 dead OWC Guardian Maximus and a new replacement OWC QX2 is being delivered to replace the one that died last week. Sounds crazy eh....in all those cases, it was some aspect of the enclosure that was at fault and not the drives. Both OWC and Netgear had excellent customer service, sending out replacements, etc. And to go on about my woes, my 6 Seagate and 1 Western Digital HD replacements are also enroute this week. Except for last week's death of my QX2, everything else died over an 18 month period and led me to believe I must have been an evil person in some previous life.
Lacie? I've had 1 out of a dozen or so die.

QA definitely became an issue for me. I was a loyal LaCie customer since the day they bought out Quantum in Oregon many years ago, but later on I had nothing but problems with 2 of their drives/controllers. They were always considered premium quality at a premium price, but that didn't turn out to be case with two of their devices, which on several occasions, had to be dropped off for repairs. Thankfully they were/are in Toronto so I didn't have to deal with shipping.

I had better luck with generic drives and a cheap oxford enclosure.

I owned about 4 Lacie drives and they all died prematurely and don't get me started on the pathetic attempt of a NAS that was the Lacie 2 big Network... ridiculously impossible to set up and less than sluggish performance plus horrible support from LaCie (they eventually gave up and told me to send it back), the only good thing was it lead me to buying a Synology NAS and it is been smooth sailing ever since.

I have good reason to "hate on" LaCie.
