Finch, I too have a PowerBook G4 12.1" | 40GB | SuperDrive | AirPort Extreme | but with 384MB Ram | Mac OS X 10.3.2

I installed the battery update two days ago and my laptop has never run cooler. Unlike most others I have read about, my fan does not come on more often at all. Rather it comes on less, but battery life is MUCH longer and the unit runs MUCH cooler.

Go figure. But I like it!

Cheers

This update...Is it only for newer laptops ?
I suppose that I won't be needing it on my Lombard...Will I ?

Just bought a second battery a little while ago and I now have
over 7 hours of life with the two batteries in the laptop.

I haven't noticed any heat difference...It's the same as always.

You only need to download the battery update once, from that point forward it will update any new battery you connect to your machine.
