I've backed up my iPhoto library and deleted it off of my computer so the app will run faster... now, i've copied it off the CD onto my iPod and i'm trying to figure out how to run the library off my iPod... how can i do it without copying the whole folder back onto my hard drive?

You know what? I just today had to finally tackle my bourgeoning iPhoto library. There are several shareware apps at versiontracker that allow you to load in different libraries:

After looking at the user reviews and checking out the homepages for these programs, I decided to try out the last one: iPhoto Buddy:

So far, it's working pretty damned slick. YMMV.
