Cingular and AT&T are the same thing essentially so it doesn't answer if the phone ships unlocked, but it does answer that a proprietary, iPhone-only SIM card was being used--if you believe the post.
iPhone SIM cards - new info
VERY interesting. At least one person who had difficulty with the activation process popped his iPhone SIM card into his OLD phone and it works....
