When I tried to update my iPhone 6 to iOS 11.0.3 I got an error message saying: Updating to iOS 11.0.3 requires at least 770 MB of free space on your iPhone. Please change your media sync options to make more storage available.

The graphic at the bottom of my iPhone summary in iTunes (12.7.0.166) indicates the phone has 5.29 GB of free space. So, why would I need to make more storage available? On top of that, I can't find any place to change my "media sync options" on either the iPhone 6 or iTunes 12.7.0.166 on my iMac (OS Sierra 10.12.6).

Also having major difficulties with something that used to be so simple: updating song lists on my iPhone. Used to be I would edit the playlist on my desktop, then drag/drop the updated list to my plugged-in iPhone. Now that doesn't work, either. I posted this problem on the other iOS board some time ago, but those suggestions didn't work.

Help!:(

One problem fixed

Discovered the storage setting and killed off several unused apps, so that's done. Still having trouble syncing playlists. I'm also in the process of updating to "High Sierra" and hoping that might provide a remedy.

I would recommend giving iTunes Match a try. I think it is like $25 - $30 a year and it puts all your music in the cloud, whether it is on iTunes or not. Everything is synced automatically and life is much simpler in that regard. You can also directly download on your device if you want it physically there instead of streaming. I can't imagine manually managing my music anymore... plus it uses less storage if you are able to stream most of your music rather then have it all actually on your device.

The money for the app isn't the problem. I use iTunes on my iPhone while I'm riding my motorcycle, so there's no chance of streaming unless I turn on my data, and I can't afford that. Here's another strange problem. Songs that have been on the playlist for years suddenly show up with a dotted circle in front of the title and they don't play on the iPhone, but don't have the circle and play perfectly on my home computer. Frustrating.
