I see wicked-good deal on a 56k V.90 Modem for the Beige G3 (internal) which would be nice to replace my bulky external one. However, my external one connects at 50666 bps, and downloads at 5.5 k/second.

I have many reports that the internal modem will only connect up to 46999 bps, and downloads max to 4.5-5 k/second. Now, is it worth replacing my internal one? I hate my huge and in-the-way external modem, but I think if I replace it, it will down-grade my conection. Thoughts?

High-Speed Internet is completely out of the question as it is unavailable at my location at this point of time.

Couldn't you find a nice direct satellite ISP somehow? Uploads suck, but the downloads are pretty wicked-fast.

We used that at work in Bosnia for two years...and it worked great! (after the war)
