Another 'innocent' question:

Suppose I wanted to trash my XP machine and retain the LCD. Could I could strip it of its innards and install in a cheap G4 tower? The PCI cards that I have are off the shelf Belkin or equivalent and include ethernet, modem, USB2 (x5) and firewire (x3). If it were possible, which G4 would make sense as compared to, say a standard superdrive equipped 17" iMac?

Thanks

For the PCI card question...

The ethernet and modem cards out of your PC would not work as "plug-n-play" in a G4 tower. Both would require Mac drivers to work, if Mac drivers for those cards even exist. Same goes with the USB and FireWire cards, although most USB cards don't require drivers to work (same goes with FireWire cards), but there's no guarantee it'll work.

Although I'm not sure I'm understanding you correctly... why would you want to install a Ethernet and Modem card in your G4 when the G4 has both built-in ethernet and modem?
