OK, this was interesting. Moved an archived QT movie to my G4 and started playing it. About 75% through the movie QT player crashed, the console came up with the crash report [excerpt below] and then Finder quit. So did all my open apps [IE, Filemaker, Yahoo! Messenger, CIV III, Terminal]...

Of course Finder restarted and was back up faster than I could blink, but WTF?

Fortunately, I was not working on anything in the other apps, so no biggie, just weird.

Hmm I've never heard of that happening before... almost like a VERY mild Kernel panic that it recovered from...

Just tried to reproduce the crash and this time around just QT Player winked out.

BTW, does anyone know what this is about? Is this some Apple joke or what?:

"Mac OS X Version 10.2.3 (Build 6G30)
2003-01-30 16:29:17.117 loginwindow[852] Could not find image named `bang'."

I see this on a lot of MDD machines.

Well, I noticed that QT movie crashes can be very nasty, but this was a little too nasty for my liking.
