I know that this is a Mac forum (I have an eMac) but the cost of a new upgrade was more than I had to spend so I built a new computer for myself. I intend on running Linux, running off of XP (I miss OS X already) for the moment so I could make sure everything was up and running properly.

That really wasn't difficult at all and no smoke or smell of burning is always a good sign.

Way to go man!

Back in the day, those UMAX S900 towers were great for that kind of tinkering. I may not have actually built them up, but I changed or upgraded everything but the logic board. And then I got OS X Jaguar running on them. :D
Fun times during the Mac clone days that I'll never forget.

Finally have everything up and running software wise. Had to reinstall everything since I couldn't get Linux to mount my HFS+ external drive so I moved everythig to a FAT32 formatted drive and its all good now.

I've been up and running XP for less than an hour and I've already had Kasperksy Internet Security 6.0 block TWO worm attacks.

F'ing Windows . . . lol.
