My friend has a USB HP CD-Writer (cd4e) that she'd like to try using with her Blueberry iBook, which has a CD-ROM drive... is this possible?

I checked the HP website & don't see Mac drivers available for this particular optical drive. If HP doesn't offer a Mac driver, are there any other (non-HP) available drivers that might work?

First of all is she using OSX or os9, and what program does she use? I recently borrowed a friends Yamaha USB burner and it was recognized with Toast Titanium 5 with no updates or driver installation.

Shouldn't be a problem with OS X - for OS 9 make sure that the USB drivers are up to date. Whether or not you'll have support for Finder burning, iTunes, etc. depends - is the burner on the Apple's compatibility list?

In any case, it should work with Toast 5 Titanium.

Cheers :-> Bill

I should have mentioned - she's using OS X & just wants to burn music & documents on CD, on occasion. I'm not so sure she wants to shell out for Toast but I'll suggest it anyway. First, I'll check Apple's compatability list... thanks!
