I'm gonna see a PowerMac G3/400 B&W. Remember read a post some where suggests to avoid low end REV A blue. Not sure how to tell.

Also I checked at apple.com, found the ROM version is 1.2 under the category of G3 B&W, no matter it is G3/400 or what.

Can some one give a tip? Thanks.

Easy, if you open the side door there is a white stenciled part number on the logic board to the complete right (facing hte computer(. It will end in either -A or -B

That is incorrect. REV A and B boards end in -A on that spot.

The controller chip for the ata bus the big chip behind the PCI slot must end in -402 to be a REV B.

Just to be sure I just checked a known REV A and 3 known REV B.
Sorry Trev - wish it was that easy.
