My boss doesn't like it, he wants it hidden and just access that stuff through the dashbar's Finder icon.

C'mon, it couldn't possibly have been worth posting this question. Wouldn't the preferences be the first place you'd look before posting a question in a forum?

People don't even try to solve a problem themselves anymore...

1. This is my first question in like a long time. I was in a productive work environment where it was faster for me to spend a minute asking a question on ehMac than to search for it myself.

2. You're saying that for a place I paid $26 to become a sponsoring member, I do not have the right to post questions? And you didn't sponsor and have the right to criticize me? That's just nasty.

It doesn't matter to me whether you paid to sponsor or not. The vast majority of the people answering your questions aren't seeing a penny of your $26. By asking frivolous questions without taking even 1 minute to try and answer it yourself, you're not being very respectful of their time.

I assure you I've provided much, MUCH more than $26 worth of support to other members on this forum, so I think I've earned my right to express my opinion. I never said you don't have the right to post questions, I merely suggested that you should try to find the answer yourself in the most obvious place first BEFORE asking. You're obviously not a complete Mac newbie, you've posted over 3,000 times.

Dude seriously what's your problem? If you didn't like my question you didn't have to comment on it. No I'm obviously not a newbie but there are times where people just don't have time to look for the solution themselves, and there may be some people on ehmac who know the answer off by heart. I've also given my fair share of help too over the years. I'm just saying that if I don't have the right to post even frivolous questions to leverage the power of community then tell me what the hell is this place for? This certainly ain't some anti social losers club. I have every right to ask a questions here and I dunno I feel your criticism is totally unjustified.

dona83, ask me any question you want, and I'll be happy to answer it.

These questions give the rest of us a chance to look smart, and (most of us) appreciate the opportunity ;)

Or maybe I'm in the minority... after all, I'm from the friendly East coast of Canada (also frequently referred to as the "Best Coast") as opposed to those imposters who claim to be from "the East" in central Canada... :D

My apologies, I didn't intend for it to become a grudge match. My original post was my off the cuff observation and was not intended to discourage you from posting, but to encourage you to rely on the simplicity of the Mac OS for answers first, before you go to others for help because often you can get the answer quicker by exploring for 30 seconds than by posting in a forum. I will admit I could have been much more diplomatic in my wording, but I was probably just in a certain mood. Please accept my apologies for any offense.

Even with the help it took me 4 minutes to find the Finder Preferences thing. I think I'm just off today. It's been a really really bad Monday so far. Glad I know now that Finder has Preferences. haha.

I think most users can pick up Mac OS really quickly -- I certainly did, but there a few things that just have to be hidden deep inside.
