I searched for that very thing for my Mac Mini, which is currently serving as our media centre in the house. I settled on the following Applescript, which I then added to my startup items so Front Row loads when OSX is started.

-- Startup FrontRow
tell application "System Events"
tell process "Front Row"
key code 53 using {command down}
end tell
end tell
tell application "QuickTime Player"
quit
end tell

If you're running Leopard, Front Row is in the Applications folder. Add it to the Login items and voila.
