OK, don't panic, but need help.. I have been having problems with the Powerbook over the last few days.. so I ran disk utility to see if there is a problem with my HD.. What it seems there is, and Disk utility can repair it.

I get the following message after running Verify disk:

PHP:
Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
	Volume needs repair

So how do I repair the HFS volume?

Greatly appreciate anyone's help.. thanks

So how do I repair the HFS volume?
Your Mac tells you - right on the screen where you verified the hard drive.
Last bullet in the instructions:

To repair the start up hard drive, start from the DVD and select disk utilities - top left if I remember right.

Or am I misinterpreting the question?

Problem solved! Thanks

Thanks All. I took the advice and rebooted using the DVD.. and it seemed to have corrected the volume disk error.. Now I hope it will also correct the sleep issue (computer sleeping unexpectedly)...

THANKS
