As much as I'd like Max Payne or Medal of Honor, I've been informed that my G3 Pismo can't run these games well, due to the processor (even though it's running 10.2.3 just fine).

Can anyone recommend some good games for OS X that will run well on a G3 Pismo, as I'm not really interested in Classic-based games? First-person shooters are particularly appreciated.

The reason you can't run those is because your Pismo lacks severe video memory -- 8 MB to be exact. Way too little for games nowadays. Your 500 MHz G3 processor is fast enough, not to mention your nice 100 MHz system bus on top of that.

I would recommend Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Red Faction, Elite Force. Those 4 will run nicely on your Pismo.

Any way to beef up the video memory on the Pismo?

Anyone try to run Max Payne on a Pismo?

I've seen Medal of Honor running on a Pismo 500 under OS X.

No, the video circuitry on Powerbooks (like most laptops) is integrated into the motherboard. The only way to upgrade the graphics is to buy a new laptop.

UT runs okay - FPS aren't spectacular and it may slow down if there are too many characters on-screen.

Unreal should work fine.
