I was wondering if the last generation of airport cards would fit in the airport extreme slot of the new G5. I realize it would only use the older speeds etc.

I don't think so, since the Airport and Airport EXTREME! cards use completely different connectors.

No. The G5 must use AirPort Extreme cards.
