Depends on what the stores have. Most stores have already sold out of a lot of their MacBooks. (But they could have "refreshed" all the store demos for this weekend).

There's also been reports of steeply discounted Mac Mini's (1.83 model for $650) so you could find some of those.

If you're shopping refreshes this weekend, stay away from MBPs, unless they're a *killer* deal, as it looks like that's what'll be updated in just under two weeks as WWDC (June 11th).

Where did you hear of these reports? Were these from last month's fire sale?
AppleStore in Laval (Montreal area) is suspending month-end sales advising that at any time people can call or show up and ask about refreshed products. I believe they can hold a product for you for a certain time period.
Does the fire sale start on Friday or Saturday?
Fire sales start Friday morning. If you are looking call in the early am to the stores and they can advise if they have what you are looking for.

My 24" was 1 of 3 and there were 2 left when I got there 4 hours later.

How much was it, just out of curiosity?

Interesting. I wonder how many people outside of the RFD and Apple-lovers (ehMac included) crowd really know about refreshed items being available all the time. I find the firesale tables pretty heavily trafficked in both the Eaton Centre and Yorkdale. I'd say they're going to miss a bunch of sales here (especially for refreshed 3rd party stuff -- stuff that's not Computers/iPods).

And yes, most stores/sales staff have been willing to hold stuff for up to 24 hours for you on a refreshed item.
I paid $2050 and it has Bluetooth keyboard. Regular size internal drive, 1GB, basic graphic card. I also picked up the mini DV plugs at $9 and I have a 23" side by side w the 24. Amazing.
Monthly Fire Sales Over... for now anyway.

No you won't. The famous month end fire sales are finished at the Apple Store. All of their refreshed (returned) items are to be shipped back to Apple on a weekly basis.

You may be able to score an item here and there, but all of the items brought back to the store during the week will be sent back to Apple on Thursday or Friday.

Guess it bit into the sales of new equipment too much.

How did you find this out? From an employee at a store.
Apple.ca has a totally new look to the online refurb store

Yeah that's true, but i was hoping it was only the laval store. Oh well, just means we have to be more diligent asking about refreshed items all the time.
