DVD player on Macbook wont play DVD?

hey all,

I got a DVD manual for a new peice of audio gear, and i went to watch it last night, and DVD Player on my macbook says its an unsupported disk?

I opened the disk, and the separate audio and video files are there, just like every other DVD. VLC player will play the disk, but without a menu, and plays the sections in random order. Quicktime Pro wont play it at all.

My roommates Acer plays it just fine with power DVD.

Anyone have any idea's?

Is it a region 1 DVD? Perhaps the Acer DVD player is not region locked, but the Macbook's (without modification) are definitely region locked. VLC will play anything regardless of region locking or not.

im not sure if its region 1 or not, but i know i set my DVD player to region 1 i belief when i set-up the mac for the first time.

I thought if it was region locked the drive wouldnt read it at all.

i just talked to the supplier of the DVD and they said its not region locked. so it must be something in the DVD player software.

Keep trying. I put a DVD in reently and it was spit out three times. I tried another DVD, which played fine. Put in the original and it played.
