I'm wondering if there is something on the Mac side which allows your Mac to decode DVD's software-wise. In otherwords, without a DVD video card to decode it. My G3 has no DVD-decoding video card, and I don't really want to spend money on a DVD video card to add DVD-playback to my G3. Any software decoders around?

I believe there is a hacked version of Apple's DVD Player on the net somewhere to allow G3's that are supposed to use hardware decoding use software decoding. It's out there... somewhere.

Okay, another question:

How do you extract the DVD Player from the Mac OS X Jaguar 10.2 CD if it wasn't by default installed? And which CD is it located on?

DVD encoding is now down by software under Mac OS 10.x. If you are running OS 9.x, you can use a patch for the DVD player (version 2.7) that can be found here:
