hi just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to recover corrupt data off a miniDV tape. i had a tape and recorded some new footage over it however when i download some of the new footage is corrupt and the old footage coming through. i've never had this problem before. so i'm hoping there is a way to recover the new footage.. any ideas?????

If the new footage is something you want to keep you will have to have that tape dubbed to a fresh new tape. Where the 'original' footage is bleeding through you will have lost the new footage. I know of no way where you can retrieve the 'lost' footage.
I would suggest having the camera head cleaned and checked as well.

If the original footage on the tape's playing back at times, interrupting the new footage you laid down on top, it means that some problem occurred with the camera or the tape that caused the new footage not to be recorded on the tape in places.
That means it's impossible to recover the new footage from the tape because the missing sections never got recorded. That the old footage was still present during the gaps in the new footage also has me wondering if that camera's not erasing properly either...
