Are you close to an Apple Store? Worth a shot to walk in and see if they'll do anything for you.

Is it not doing anything? No sad iPod icon? No file icon? Usually even a pooched hard drive will show that much. Make sure it's fully charged, plug it into your computer, and see what happens.

If that fails, flip the hold button on and off, and then hold down Previous + Select. You should see a backward Apple logo, and get into diagnostic mode. Run the hard drive scan and see what happens.

If all that fails, grasp the iPod firmly in one hand, and slam it with force into your other hand. This has actually worked for me on a number of occasions with my troublesome iPod!

i would first suggest plugging it into a powered usb port, or wall adapter, and then perform the reset. from here you should see some results either good or bad. you might need to perform the reset a couple of times for the apple logo to come up
