Keep in mind that if you attempt to (1) run a SMTP server on your home machine or (2) send more than X hundred emails per hour, your ISP is going to shut you off as a spammer or a commercial server.

Also you run the risk of your emails being blacklisted if you run SMTP software on a residential network block.

Discuss this with your ISP - they may have some software or a suggestion how best to handle it.

Otherwise, Filemaker Pro has mail sending abilities if you want to roll your own, and there are many stand alone programs. Your best bet however may be to make the fan list into a Yahoo Group or BCentral (or whatever Microsoft calls it this month), or some online subscription service.
