whats faster? dual 867 mhz or a single 1ghz?
dual 1ghz or a single 1.25 ghz?

That's a good question.
My understanding is the program you are using. If you use photoshop, for instance, it is optimised for dual processors and will be quite a bit faster than a single.
Reports indicate, however, non-optimised programs can actually be slower on dual processors. I think the example they used was a large Excel spreadsheet. I'm not sure about this, but I also seem to recall that Jaguar and Panther are NOT optimised for duallies. Please, someone correct me if I am wrong

Depends on what you are doing.

If the program you have can use both processors, the dual will be heads and tails faster.

If not, then the higher clocked single processor will be faster.

On average, especially with OS X though the duals are faster. Just check benchmarks.

OS X is however able to make use of both processors, but it isn't completely optimized for dual processors, but can take advantage of the fact.
