I went to the Apple website's Applecare section, to find authorized service providers. Well it listed a whole bunch of stores. So do I just bring in my system to any one and they diagnose/fix it?

If it's got a hardware problem and your bring it in with a receipt of proof of purchase that proves the computer is within the warranty period, there shouldn't be any charges.

I've had exactly one hardware problem with my Macs over the years and the folks at bMac handled this failure of the CPU board promptly. Didn't cost me a dime.

Shouldn't cost you a dime.
