CD-RW to PC not reading properly

Hi all,

I spent about 20 minutes today figuring out how to erase a CD-RW, then re-burn it. I was so proud of myself until it didn't work. XX)

I did this using Disk Utility, which Mac Help pointed me towards.
Once I got the disk erased I ejected it and put it back into the drive, burned the disk image I had created with the new files, fine. But now, the computer wouldn't mount it either on the desktop or in the Finder. I was able to eject it with the F12 key (sigh of relief).

Once I restarted the computer it read the disk fine, it appeared on the desktop/in finder properly, and when I opened the disk the files appeared.

But when I gave it to my boss to read on his PC, the files didn't appear, as if the disk was totally blank.
Is this because I used disk utility to burn a .dmg instead of using Finder to burn it in the normal way? I've never had a problem trading CDs mac to PC before. The .dmg didn't appear when I opened the burned CD contents, only the files that were supposed to be there.

I was burning Microsoft Word and Excel files, and running Panther on an iBook G4.

Any ideas so this doesn't happen again, or what I did wrong?

Usually I just use disk utility for the erase. I then burn normally. Suggest turning off quick erase if you still have problems using the disk on a PC. Also make sure you burn the disk rather than a session burn. PCs will only see the latest session.
I used DU to erase and when I reinserted it the dialog for "insert blank disc" popped up, so I know I did that right. So the problem is just that I used Disk Utility to burn instead of Finder?

That was easy! I'll have to see if I can make it work next time. Thanks.
