CD-R Speeds and old iMacs

669 Views 0 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  LilyRose
I have an iMac that I bought 5 years ago. The last time I bought CD-Rs, maximum speed was 32x, and they worked fine. Now I'm looking to buy more and I was looking at MacHelp to see if there was a "speed limit" and I see that only lower recording speeds are mentioned (8x max speed).

If I bought CD-R 52x, would they work? This might sound like a dumb question, but last year I bought DVD-Rs and discovered that my recorder won't record on anything above 4x (very hard to find)..so I thought maybe I'd ask here, before I buy the CD-Rs.

Thanks in advance, if anyone answers.
