CD/DVD won't insert

3779 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  irod
Any particular reason why cd's and dvd's can't be inserted into a super drive? I certainly don't want to force them but it feels like something is pushing back against them. Tried restarting a couple of times, even holding the mouse down.
Any suggestions would be great.
Could it be a good enough excuse to tell the wife we need a new iMac?

... in the G5 iMac? There is an amount of resistance to the process, almost a "squishy" or "bouncy" rejection.
Squishy

Yeh, I've always felt the resistance but the drive won't accept the media. All I feel is the resistance.
Oh and sorry, it is the 2nd gen. G5.
Ok I fixed it, from the Apple support site..

1. Place the computer in sleep mode.
2. Press the Media Eject key at the top-right corner of the keyboard.

Did this and I heard the drive "reset", now everything is fine (for now).
Thanks
