So I'm in Barrie now doing a pre course program at Georgian. I am using their supplied ethernet network which is faster than m DSL connection at home (confirmed by speedtest). The program is I cannot send email to any email address other than a sympatico one. It tells me it was unable to relay the message. I googled it and was told to get the STMP server to require log in (the same as my POP login into). I did that and now it says it cannot send because it does not support the authentication methods... something like that.

I'm using the on-campus residence ethernet connection and entourage is set up to send/receive for my sympatico account. I never had a problem sending/receiving at home, probably because I was on a sympatico network. On the Georgian connection I can receive email from anyone but sending will only work when sending to other sympatico email addresses.

Can anyone shed some light on this? It's not a HUGE problem as I dont use my sympatico email to send often.

i'm sorry to say but your out of luck as far as the sympatico servers go
you can use a sending server like gmail but thats a little tough to setup at first

just FYI, the smtp1/8 servers do not need any ssl or authentication the smtphm servers however do need ssl and authentication
