I have been using Camino 1.6 alpha 1 for more than two months on my G4 iMac, no problem at all.

For speed on Firefox, I started to use Firefox 3.0 alpha (current version at alpha 9) at also about two months ago and found it incredibly fast; definitely faster than Firefox 2.x.

Interesting comment about FF 3 alpha being faster that FF 2.x
FF 2.x is instantaneous for me - if anything renders faster, I sure couldn't tell just looking at the screen. And at that point, an increase in speed becomes irrelevant.
There is one technical standard that FF3 alpha meets but other browsers from Mozilla don't.

FF3 alpha passes the Acid2 test. None of the other Mozilla browsers, alpha/beta/final version -- Camino, FF2.x, Flock, Mozilla/Seamonkey -- pass the test.

I don't know how significant it is for a browser to pass the Acid2 test, or it is just an academic exercise. I know that Safari, Shiira and Opera all pass this test.
