I know there is a lot of talk about AutoCAD on Mac again but I need some info for a switcher about viewing his autocad files.
He's going with VPC anyway but if there is a OSX native solution or if something like Vectorworks can be used I'd appreciate some "hands on" feedback from those who work with Macs in the CAD arena.

I dabble with CADintosh , it's shareware and has a 15 second "Unregistered Try Me" delay at startup.
Although CADintosh is no where near the capabilities of Vectorworks, it can still get ya the 2D basics, and it's only $33 US.

Most high-end CAD programs such as Vectorworks, ArchiCAD can read .dwg files. Complex ACAD files will have problems. I recommend getting a cheap P4 2.0 GHz box for the sole purpose of running ACAD. The amount of time he is going to waste waiting for things to happen under VPC will end up costing him more in a very short time. If he plans to collaborate with others who are using ACAD, then he should use ACAD otherwise he will just be creating more work for himself.
