What would be a good way to determine the market value of an older Mac? I have a 700MHz eMac but with 320GB Seagate HD (less than 1 year old), 1GB RAM, and a Pioneer DVR-111 CD/DVD RW (a few months old).

I found three on eBay but they are all stock and range in price from just over $200- almost $500

I've never thought about selling a computer before and have no idea how to figure out an appropriate sell price.

Have you checked the classifieds here? Might give you some idea.

Either way, honestly.. you're not going to get a lot for a G4. There's 2 revisions of CPU's since then. Most people would end up picking up an Intel Mini before a G4 eMac.

I would sell the Pioneer Drive separately.. and take $400 or less for the eMac.

You'll get more on Craigslist, although of course you have to be very careful.

There are a lot of students who worked with exactly that model of computer who know what it can (and can't) do, and would enjoy it still. Offer half the RAM as a separate sale--or throw it in as a bonus for a nice buyer.

Thanks for the input, I placed an ad here.

Its been a great machine for me and is still very effective at basic computing tasks, even though I've done more than just word processing/ surfing the net with it.
