available HD space

Can anyone explain this?: On a dual boot iMac DV 400 running OSX 10.3.9 and 9.2, using Get Info, under 10.3.9 the available HD space shows as 3.85 GB, and under 9 it shows as 3.44

Thanks in advance for answers.

Different Partitions?
The computer has a 10 G HD - 9 & 10 are both installed as dual boot, not partitioned.
I understand what you are asking, but I think you better rephrase your question so others can help.
OK, let's try it this way:

I have an iMacDV 400 with OSX 10.3.9 and OS 9.2 which will run either as Classic or as the StartUp system. Under 20.3.9, using Get info, the HD shows 3.85 GB available, but when booted under 9.2, using Get Info the HD shows just 3.44 GB available.

Can anyone explain why the available HD space is different under the two systems?
Because the two systems use different virtual memory schemes?
There was a comment in another thread that a Mac needs some free hard drive space to boot up.
Maybe the 'Get Info' makes allowances for that and the free hard drive space required for OS 9 is different than for OS X.
