I received 3 months of free Apple TV with my new iPhone12. But do I really want to watch a movie on that small screen? Is there a way to synch or watch it on a larger screen on my MBP or iMac?

You can just download the Apple TV app on your MBP or iMac. Then watch it through that. Also, if you have a smart tv. Download the Apple TV app on there. My Samsung I bought a couple years ago has AirPlay built into it. So that’s another option if your tv has that.

On a side note, make sure you watch Ted Lasso. 😀

I tried to download the Apple TV App and it didn't work. I have MacOS 10.14.6. Is that the problem?
I can't go further than that with the OS, because I won't be able to use my Adobe CS6 apps.

I just signed into Apple TV on my Windows 10 laptop from Chrome browser here. Apple TV+ Signed into my Apple Account and was offered to watch TV from my browser. See if you can use your favourite browser to do the same.

I too got the offer of 3 months free for purchasing a new iPhone SE (2022).

I looked online and apparently you have to have MacOS Catalina to get the Apple TV app. Your other option is to AirPlay it somehow. You could also get a Lightning to HDMI cable and hook up your iPhone directly to your tv.
