About time. The thing that has me even more interested is that amount of different types of jobs that are being offered at Apple. Jobs that I have never seen being offered before for Apple Canada.

Check out http://jobs.apple.com

Maybe they are finally going to try to build their presense in Canada and make a push here into the other markets as well.

I noticed a few weeks back they started to air the switch commercials on CTV. Until a few weeks ago I had only seen the Apple adds on A&E or other US stations. In some ways it would be nice to have the Apple store in Canada but the bad point is all the people the Apple re-sellers would have more competition.

Sounds like the first one will be at the Vaughan Mills project north of Toronto. I've been interested in this project for some time now, as these guys build BIG malls...they usually have a Vans store, with an indoor skateboard park as well!

The location is interesting...if it is at Vaughan Mills, it will be "out of the way" in the burbs, and be very hard to get to by public transport.

Actually, if you read that ad carefully you'll find nothing that specifically implies an _Apple run_ retail initiative.

It could be read simply as a search for a National Retail Sales manager responsible for the existing accounts that Apple Canada serves.

quote:
Reponsible for driving sales and achieving a national sales quota through multi-location regional and national retailers. Initiating and implementing sales activities to drive revenue. Presenting and demonstrating Apple technology and solutions to large audiences in Retail accounts. Coordinating national sales program and promotion rollouts. Responsible to develop and manage effective training content and programs appropriate for these accounts. Maximize soft dollar expenditures to achieve sales targets and develop strong ROI model to measure results. Manage buyer, marketing and front line management relationships within national retail accounts. Assist in development and implementation of retail merchandising initiatives and manage compliance.

Yes I know about the rumours of a Store in the Vaughn (which, forget about "yet to be opened", they haven't even broken gruond on it).

If there's one thing you can count on Apple Canada for it's to get the job done late and usually half-assed to boot. I sure hope that we get Apple Stores but I doubt that Apple Ca will get it organized anytime soon.

If you're still skeptical it's hard to deny this post confirms it, here

Yes the other one could have been misinterpreted by the discerning skeptic but this one pretty much spells it out.

Cheers,

[qb]B.Mac is a HUGE store (probably the biggest of the three) and is strictly Mac when it comes to computers, but it's selection is pretty damn lame, especially for software (Compucentre had a better selection of games than B.Mac. And Compucentre has only 1 frickin' shelf!). It also lost alot of respect from me when B.Mac decided NOT to order more than a half-dozen copies of Jaguar for the most hyped release day of an Apple product. They ordered just enough to cover pre-orders and that was it. B.Mac. Great potential, but they need more than 1 brain cell to rub together to create a thought in their collective heads, it would seem.

I've always liked bMac. I'm not a gamer, but they seemed to have a pretty good game selection to me. Anyway, the only problem I had with them was the same you did. I wanted a Jaguar family pack and instead of ordering it, they told me to keep checking back. It took over a month of going back four times (luckily it's on the way home from work) before they got one. They should have just kept one for me and called me instead of making me come back.

But other than that, I like the store - they have lots of the little accessories that you'd only expect to get online. And they have one of each type of Mac to let you really try them out.

I am still very skeptical. This is likely nothing more than a job posting for someone to deal with the Apple (online) stores.

When you shop off the Apple website...it is called the "Apple Store." I realize the ad distinctly mentions "stores," but I believe this is nothing more than Apple mentioning that they indeed have an English Apple Store and a French Apple site (whose store is not yet translated)...translating the French version would create "two stores."

Granted...I would love to see an honest-to-God Apple retail store in Canada...I just don't see it happening yet. Toronto...maybe. Montreal...long-shot. Ottawa...don't hold your breath.

B.Mac ain't licked yet.
