I read this weeks ago and just kept the window open to remind myself to post this.

Unfortunately, not all content and applications providers have embraced openness and neutrality. Unlike BlackBerry, which allows iPhone users to download and use our BBM service, Apple does not allow BlackBerry or Android users to download Apple's iMessage messaging service. - John Chen, RIM CEO
Wild.

This is the same company that sued KIK when they introduced a cross platform messenger that could be used by BB owners.

And KIK only came about when the the intern begged RIM to take BBM cross platform, and they refused. SO he started KIK,

You can hear bits of the story below in the 1st few minutes. The rest of the video is interesting as well in fact.

Now, although this is a different upper brass, the idea that RIM should force Apple to do anything is farcical. But the biggest joke is still BB demanding they make iMessage available to others.

#smh

RIM will be an amazing case study for yrs to come. It was sad watching it unravel though....

I saw this a while back and laughed. Granted as a new external CEO comes in he can obviously have a different view and route to run than the previous ones.

If a company wants to only support some customers, so be it. If Apple only wants to support the apple customers then they could be potentially be loosing out or giving a reason not to buy apple products.

Personally I'm sick of companies making free chat apps and then load them with stickers. The darn asterisk on the BBM store telling me there are new stickers available to buy annoys me. If I really need to chat with somebody it's called good old SMS texts which I have unlimited in North America.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

RIM wouldn't share BBM in the past when they thought they had the upper hand. Now they are grovelling for sales, they expect Apple to share iMessage................
