how mutch would an old Apple II be worth? Some one has donated one to my scout troop for our tag sale and I don't know what to price it at. If aneyone has any ideas that would be great. I know it is old and you can't do mutch with it but hopfulley some other Mac persion will buy it to add to there colection. (I would buy it but there is no way I will be able to talk my parence in to letting me buy a computer just to look at)

I think that qualifies as a "make offer". Strikes me that only a very limited audience would be interested. For reference, there is currently an Apple IIc on ebay.ca at a whole $10.80Cdn, and the auction only has about 4hrs remaining.
mutch=much
aneyone=anyone
mutch=much (again)
hopfulley=hopefully
persion=person
there=their (in this case)
colection=collection
parence=parents

Yeah we all get sloppy on the keyboard sometimes, but that was just too painful.
Other than to a collector, it's not worth much. $10 to $20.

:clap: :clap: Maybe if we ALL point out every spelling error, he will learn to clean up his posts? Count me in to do just that whenever I see one.

Think of it as a learning experience for him. :D

And only an insane collector will pay more.... :D

the mighty missed "Some one =Someone" I guess everyone can't be perfect! ;)
Darien is a HS student

and we all agree that his spelling leaves much to be desired .

we all know what he means regardless of his spelling and can only hope that it will improve before he graduates from HS and goes on to University .

Darien is not to be ridiculed for his spelling as its just what he has been "taught" or not "corrected" in his schooling system. Most of his errors are just phonetic and his teachers are the people who are to blame for not correcting him from ...well I would guess grade 5 and beyond.

"No Child left behind" ? well GWB this one seems to have been severely side tracked in the process.

This level of spelling will leave this student at a great deficit when he enters the Adult work force and that is tragic to say the least.

On the other hand I would welcome him here so we can discuss his obvious intelligence regardless of the spelling skills that he has yet to learn .

Okay, this thread has taken a new direction...

I'm glad to see that many here care about spelling and grammar. I'm willing to bet that poor school spellers never improve, unless they work in a field that demands a good command of English.

I travel by bus, quite often with college and university students. I'm amazed at how many times the word "like" is used in every sentence. Females seem to be more prone to this (ever listened to an Avril Lavigne interview?), but it could be because they speak more than the males on the bus.
Oh come on people get off Darien's case, he's American and went to school there, it's not his fault his spelling's so bad.
(ever listened to an Avril Lavigne interview?)
Now that's what I call painfull!

Let's lighten up folks!

If you must remain "UNLAXED" then go to -->"User CP" (User Control Panel) on the left-hand side of that page go to -->"Miscellaneous" section click on--> "Buddy / Ignore Lists" and add a name that vexes your very being and then you may relax and be :cool: :cool:
Sold

We were able to sell the Apple II for 15 USD:) I would have bought it along with the French Canadian keyboard but my Mom and Dad are already on my case for the box of old cables and drives that I have in my closet. :mad:
You got a good price for it.. I just finished buying an almost identical one from Vancouver for $1.16 cnd..

Abysmal
I find it funny that I read Darien's original post without noticing a single error.

I guess that's why I can't spell either. I do, however, know how to turn on the spell checker in Safari, which, I'm sure save's those of you who notice such things a great deal of cringing.

Cheers

I ran across an item on the web the other day, it stated that as long as the first and last letters of each word in a post are correct, you can fill in the remainder of letters for each word with whatever... and still manage to read and understand the post.
Then it gave an example, it looked really ugly, but yes I could read and get the gist of the message.
But... this relies on your brain doing the decoding, which means that everyone the message is intended for better know how to spell or you'll be out of luck.
