Q2- Results

120 000 LCD iMac sold.

iBooks down because of 12" PB

166 000 Powerbooks sold
- 82 000 of them were 12" PB

Towers sluggish

Retail Stores (2 New Stores (53 total))
135 Million in sales.
2.6 Million per store.

Traffic 3 Million people visited Apple Stores.
50% do not currently own a Mac.

3rd large format store to open in Chicago.

CPU Educational sales in Desktop down 40%

X for Teachers - 400 000 in hands of K12 plus teachers

Cash up to 4.526 Billion Dollars
Up 189 Million in working capital.

June Outlook -

Expect flat revenues
Grose margin and Operating exp. flat.

Slight profit for June Quarter.

Portable Mix:
42% of CPU's were portables (iBooks - Powerbook)
Primary 12" and 17"

Steve believes this is the year of the portable.

Music Subscription Plan:
Will Apple spend capital?
No coment on future products.

Will Apple go to Intel design?
No coment on future products.

How many store to open in US or international.
Target is 70 in US.
No plans for stores internationally.

How can you change it?
Customers base?

Business conditions are the main reason for sluggish PowerMac. Looking for an upturn. Pro's buy every 2 - 3 years. Mentions Quark should become native. This will help drive an upgrade cycle.

CFT pricing flat and going up.
Flat Panel pricing tightening.

PowerMac ..... a big concern during this question period.

US Education sales down year over year 14%.

Average Revenue per Apple Store is 2.4 Million for Q2.

Tuesday and Wednesday Store nights, Parent - Teacher - Student nights. Done over 200 of these nights.

Talk of the press release this morning that Apple has never made an offer for a Music company.

Internal Policy and goal for working capital.
Continue to conserve Cash.
Focused as a company to conserve Cash.
Increase reserves by 189 Million.

Aquisitions of any kind?
No coment on future products.

Small Aquisitions of Software companies.

Percent of Online Revenue
46% up form 31% last year.

De-Authorized Stores.
Dell is now Re-Authorized for 2003.
All significant partners have resigned.
Half of 1% have not resigned.

Pretty poor results overall. The desktops are really bad. Powerbooks are the only improvement in terms of sales (helped push the margins up). Odd that the next quarter is also predicted as flat. Suggests no major changes in product line. iPod sales not broken out but there were $216 million in hardware peripheral sales (includes displays).

At least they added to cash and made a bit of money (more than can be said of most of the sector).
