Further expanding on an earlier thread...

I found this interesting report...

http://www.stanford.edu/group/SICD/Apple/apple.html

note the following from the report:
(This stuff bothers me...)

To Be Improved
[ ] - sites in non-democratic nations
[ ] - child labor violations in last five years
[ ] - environmental violations in last five years

but it's dated 2000. Anyone know where I can find more up-to-date information ?

Loafer, I think that if there were checkmarks in any of those boxes that would be bad.

This is from the article you just linked:

"Apple has sites only in developing countries, situated in Cork, Ireland; Sacramento, Ca; and Singapore. All Apple manufacturing sites are certified to the international quality standard."

Doesn't mention anything about China though. How recent is this article?

Actually, since Apple outsources alot of it's manufacturing, you won't be looking for Apple-owned sites, but the manufacturer-owned site who Apple outsources to. The document you linked to probably only deals with Apple's own sites in California and abroad.

I can't remember hearing of a China manufacturer. The one manufacturer I had heard of was Quanta and it's in Taiwan. What do you have that is made in China. Maybe I can google it to find out who the manufacturer is.

Hmmmm.... maybe it is Quanta you want to research. Apparently according to this article , they have moved most of their manufacturing to China.
