I have searched for some hotspots (wireless) for a week now and have not been very successful ( I would say about 20% success rate )

So I have reverted to AOL.

Why?

Because they have connection numbers across Canada. And multiple number in most major cities in CANADA.

But I am only getting 26.6 and 28.8 connections, with a 56K modem......

Is this normal? I have cable (Rogers) in SW Ontario so I don't deal with different connection speeds. Just slowdown here and there. I have yet to get a 33.6 or 54 or 56 connection.

Granted these are 'Introductory offer' promotions but I still need to be impressed to pay for this internet service.

Or maybe I have had to much to drink.

I don't know about Alberta, but here (UK) Starbucks sells WiFi time on a subscription basis that meters the time you spend online (subs are valid for one month). This means that you only need to buy it when you know you are going to travel extensively.
