So I was working on a comic book with someone, but he and I don't really speak anymore, so I have an unfinished comic book that I would like to get finished. Basically, I wrote it, now I need someone to draw it.

Here's the deal:

1) The text is complete and is mine, but I am not a comic book writer, so I need some help dividing things into panels and such. It was supposed to be a book and an 8-pager.

2) I'd love to have a fair amount of visual humour, but really, that's not my strength so I'm open to suggestions and may be willing to make text adjustments here and there.

3) This is sort of an absurdist anti-hero kind of deal. Basically, we have this evil guy with plans to take over the world, but then he lost everything in the divorce so he's now he's evil guy trying to take over the world with no resources.

4) I'm not looking to be the next indy comic genius here. I'd like to get it drawn and maybe print a few copies for personal satisfaction, but I'm not looking to publish and attempt to sell. That's not my world.

5) Yes, I will pay for this gig. No, I don't know how much. You tell me, I might agree with you, then we go from there.

Hi Sonal,
If you want to get your script drawn then go comic websites, maybe Sheridan College, or OCAD, or visit some comic conventions. Post some notices or forum posts, state what you want done and what you can offer.
You could also join some comics groups at yahoo, those seem to be active.

If this book you wrote is not formatted for comics pages, you will have to rewrite it before it can be drawn. Remember comics are avisual medium, and sometimes the pictures will tell the story.

On the other hand, sometimes pictures aren't enough to comunicate any depth.
It's the combination of words and pictures that makes comics special.

You can check out Scott McCloud's book MAKING COMICS, and Will Eisner's book GRAPHIC STORYTELLING to help open your thinking in this medium.

Oh and nowadays printing your comic in small runs by digital print on demand will work well for you. places like comixpress, Ka-Blam and Lulu can do great work cheap and sell it on their own sites

Thanks, I'll check out Sheridan and OCAD to see if there is a place where I can post this. Can you suggest some comic forums?

To clarify, I'm not looking to get into the whole comic world--it's not really an interest of mine. This is just something I did for fun as an out-of-genre writing challenge, and I like the story I came up with. I just want someone to draw this one, print myself a copy or two, and call it a day on the whole comic book business.

At the moment, it's written like kind of like a play--dialog, and some scene description, but it's not layed out into panels or types of panels... Would that be a huge problem? Not being that visual, I would like someone to give me some suggestions on how to do this.

also consider this
take lots of photos of people who could be characters in the story and places and props that could be used in your story and use them to work from in Photoshop or Painter or what have you
This may be something you could do yourself using photos and computer graphics without much drawing skill, just some design flair.

Speaking of taking photos and so on, there is also Comic Life software, which lets you make comics from your iPhoto library. You drag photos into panels, add balloons, sound effect text and filters can be applied to the photos for more a 'cartoony' look. It is quite fun.
