Seems to me the only folks complaining about the state of Apple towers are those who don't own a Mac. I don't know anyone that isn't tickled pink with one of the new towers, myself included. I don't think I'm alone when I say speed isn't a big issue to most industries employing Macs.
The education market? That's a different problem altogether. I think Apple believes it doesn't have to "give away" it's hardware to entice people to buy. I hope they're right, but fear they're not.
