Via TUAW.com,

Check out this photo from Time Magazine showing Al Gore in front of his 3 Cinema Displays (he is on Apple's Board, so I guess he gets free/cheap Apple stuff? ;) )

I'm pretty sure that those are 30"ers. They look too big to be 23".

All I gotta say is wow. ;) So much clutter, but so much SCREEN SPACE!

sure looks like he's doing his bit to save the world,
good photo of a guy who would like to see everyone else cut back, do with less etc, etc.
Not exactly "leading by example", but what else can you expect from someone who treks around the country in a private fuel guzzling jet, that's when he is not at home in his massive climate controlled mansion.

jb.
How does he find his lockbox in all that mess?
i want the frog on the wall!!!
Cool post!

What have you done to help anyone lately?

This actually looks much like my brother-in-law's office...
except... his (windows) monitors are mismatched, they aren't as big - and...
you can see Al's floor.

Heh. This made me look again, and his floor is remarkably clean, compared to the copious amounts of clutter everywhere else. It's weird.

I guess I didn't notice last time I looked at the pic as I was drawn in by the 3 x 30" displays ;)
The screen space is amazing, but who needs that much? I guess it's for all the movie editing he does :) I guess living frugally is not part of living green...
I thought my cubicle was cluttered!! Nice setup though.
He's got a fancy-schmancy ergonomic chair that probably cost $3k, and he's slouching forward. Sheesh.
Cool first post!

By the way, what kind of car do you drive?

No car. I bike and take trains and buses... not that I am against cars in general, as they provide a certain freedom you can't get with other transportation. I think if we can get past the internal combustion engine, we'll all be okay lol!
Cool 7,010th post! Anyway...
I'm not convinced its combustion engines alone that need changing...
Imagine that the cars in the following pictures are all zero emissions vehicles.

Air pollution is just one problem that needs addressing. The general perception of what constitutes freedom is another. The upward facing surfaces in Al Gore's office could do with some serious declutterization. Then everything will be perfect and we can live in peace and harmony forever.

I guess what you're saying is traffic gridlock sucks. Well, I agree. But you can have traffic gridlock with bikes, people walking; it doesn't matter what sort of transportation is being used if the infrastructure is not designed well enough to support it (or, there are just too many damn people).

Good luck on your trip from TO to Montreal. I am thinking of doing KW to Toronto in a day... think that's doable?
Cool post!
What have you done to help anone lately?
can't help you there, I don't know anyone named "anone".

But when you consider how much he's done, like alerting the general public to the problem, he's got some slack. It would be nice to see him lead by example, but I don't think we can criticize him for not doing so.
However, what is your point? If Gore, or anyone else, is gonig to club us over the heads with climate change, he should follow his own advice!!! Or do actions NOT speak louder than words. You LEAD by example.

What the hell are carbon credits, anyway. You pay money and get a "get of jail free" card. That is bull****!!! I drive truck for a living, does that make me the devil? I do my, best for the Enviroment (recycle, turn temp down in the winter, use A/C sparingly, keep my car in good working order, I do not idle), but until we have a clean fuel that can be used in "today's cars" not much is going to change. I could go on, but I think I have disrupted this thread enough. Will start a new one.
