It's older than the Uzi.
Compared to the Uzi the AK is a work of genius: to paraphrase the old Timex slogan the AK "takes a licking and keeps on killing". The Uzi's prime characteristic is its size. Drop it in mud and it dies - the AK just keeps on going...
