Adding a 2Gig memory module to MacBook?

Any issues buying a regular new MacBook and replacing one of the 512K chips with a 2G chip?
Tests by OWC claims that's fine, but I wonder if anyone has done that.

Will work fine, don't worry. However, if the RAM isn't paired (i.e; 2 x 512, or 2 x 1GB), your MacBook will not make use of interleaving.

Is the MacBook still constrained by the 3-gig limit on RAM?
