A rebate..Finally!!!

I sent in a rebate claim on a 40 gb Maxtor hard drive
way back in June and they just mailed it yesterday.
(I checked the rebate status on B.S. Depots web site)

I paid $159.CDN plus tax and got a $30.CDN instant
rebate (After taxes) and then had to send away for the
$45.CDN rebate. (I'm not sure what the math is, I think it
totalled at $105. for the 40 gb h.d. including taxes)

I really hate rebates. (Instant ones are okay)

Man, if you are complaining about the tardiness of a rebate you sent in during June, you must be new to rebates...

I recently got one for some Future Shop Altec Lansing speakers that I sent in just before the end of last year! FS is just about as bad as it gets when it comes to rebates...
That wasn't just a hard drive was it? Please tell me it was the FireWire one. 'Cause, I just bought a Western Digital Caviar 40GB Jumbo 8MB cache for $107 (that's including tax) from CanadaComputers.com.

Yes...I know what you mean,
I got my rebate check from Future Best Buy just last
month for a Canon printer I bought from them at Xmas.

I'd rather have instant rebates or store discounts,
It seems that no matter what you do to increase your
chances of getting a refund faster...They always make
it hard for you to get the money back. (It's as if someone
at the company has a job that just involves shredding
rebates as they come in)

When I sent in the Maxtor rebate, I made the mistake of
sending it in via snail mail, Of course it got lost.
So...I was forced to FAX them with all of the info...

CanadaComputers.com was selling the WD for that same price way back in June as well.

Whenver you're interested in getting that 120GB, CanadaComputers.com has the Western Digital Caviar Jumbo cache model for $159 (not including tax).

I avoid the big retail chains like the plague. They charge you way more to pay for their high rent.
I just picked up a 40 gig Western Digital at Best Buy for $50 after rebate. Only a 2 meg cache, but since I am using it for back up, that should not be a problem.
Oh yeah, I hate those Futureshop mail in rebates but how can you resist when they have such low prices? Some hidden charges when getting US$ rebate cheques: Bank of Montreal charges $5 to convert a US dollar cheque to CAN$!!!

Re; Altec Lansing ATP-3 speaker rebate: I bought them at the Xmas boxing day sale, sent in the rebate forms right away and when May came around and no rebate, I mailed them a letter with copies of my receipts and got my cheque the next week.

I tried to call them a few months ago, but since this rebate was so old, I couldn't find my original paperwork. I've sent in dozens of FS rebates before, so I figured that this one was lost. It showed up about the same time as yours...
There's always a better deal if you are willing to wait
long enough, Trouble is...Can you wait for it?
I needed a hard drive when I needed it, Maxtor
happened to be the one I got and the next time it'll most
likely be a Maxtor as well. (Hopefully a 120 gb ;) )

Cheers!

Best Buy is no better than F.S.
I bought some CD-R's off of them at XMas for $0.00
after the mail-in rebate rebate of $7.99, It tooks 6
months to get the rebate check.

BTW...I got the Maxtor check today, I just cash it.
