One canlikely expect it soon.

Toshiba (the maker of the 1.8" drives in iPods) is about to announce 30 and 40 gig models in 1.8" configurations. Not hard to forecast that Steve and friends will start throwing these puppies in iPods P.D.Q.

Question - will people be able to "drop in" a 40 gig drive in their 20 gig models? Just a thought...

Doubt you'd be able to drop in/replace a 40 gig into the 20 gig iPod since the new drives appear to be a different product category (i.e. different cache, etc). Might be possible and you can bet someone will try

The new iPods are almost certainly going to be significantly cheaper (a 10 gig for the old 5 gig price, 20 for 10, etc). Should stir up sales since price is the only thing against the iPod.

My birthday is next Sunday..... heh.
