I have a DP 2.5 Ghz PPC G5. I couldn't just exchange the CPU for a dual Xeon, could I?

and, I upgraded my mom's powerbook G4 to 10.4.10. She's using a usb 2.0
hub from iogear with her Lexmark E310 printer. printer couldn't see the powerbook thru the hub. Plugged the printer directly into the powerbook, and voila it worked
and printed just fine (nothing before that)

any ideas welcomed
thanks

Not a chance. There are many, many other differences besides the processor.

Likely a problem with power. USB hubs often need to be powered by an AC adapter in order to work with printers and scanners, while non-powered hubs might work with peripherals that demand less juice. Make sure that you have an AC adapter for the hub, and that it's working.
